摘要

Nasser Munjee paid a price for believing that India, even with its acute electricity shortages, didn't need new power stations until the nexus of vote-grabbing politicians and power-thieving businessmen was broken. Until recently. Munjee was the chief executive of India's Infrastructure Development Finance Co, a lender created by the government seven years ago to remedy the woeful state of the country's infrastructure. That included pot-holed roads, choked ports and frequent power blackouts. Irregular and unreliable power has kept companies like Intel Corp. from manufacturing in India, although the country is the California-based company's biggest centre for designing computer chips outside the US.
