摘要

As of March this year, installed generation capacity of India stood at 173,626 MW, 60% up from 107,877 MW in 2003, data from the Power Ministry show. Credits behind the success could be due to the government but one must not forget that every hero needs a side kick to execute the mission. In this case, realizing the goal would have not been possible without the key role played by the Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers' Association (IEEMA) - an industry body comprising almost 95% of all manufacturers of electrical and industrial electronics in the country. IEEMA, which is already in its 63rd year of existence, had since then worked hand in hand with the government to solve problems relating to power generation, transmission and distribution and is continuously geared toward meeting the country's power requirement.
