The deal between Thailand and Laos, a 340MW Xekong hydroelectric power project in Vientiane, was lauded as a groundbreaking cross-border partnership that will supply electricity in Northeast Thailand. But whilst the deal is positive for both, it reveals an increasing tendency amongst Thai power producers to seek projects overseas on the back of increasing uncertainty at home.
