摘要

Polyester fibre shows a definitive hydrophobic character and a high degree of crystallanity, making it difficult to penetration of dyes. Dye penetration can be improved by pre-treating the fibre using solvents or by annealing. Solvents and solvent mixtures can bring out modification in the fibre structure. The present study was made with an aim to modify physico-chemical behaviour of the fabric and yarn samples under study. This was made with analytical techniques such as scanning electron microscopy, Fourier Transform Infra Red Spectroscopy, Differential Scanning Calorimetric and X-Ray Diffractometry. The pre-treatments have resulted in solvent induced crystallization of the fabric matrix causing phyico-chemical changes. There was no loss in strength of the treated materials.
