Marte Mk2/S Anti-Ship Missiles For Asian Navies

The Marte Mk2/S air-to-surface anti-ship guided-missile belongs to the MARTE Mk2 family of missile systems operational with the Italian Navy's helicopter fleet. The airborne missile system was developed based on the Italian Navy Operational Requirements to provide its medium-heavy weight helicopters with anti-ship stand-off capability in regard to ship Point Defence Systems. The choice of the helicopter platform as a means of launching the Marte Mk2 was based on the following operational considerations: 1. Operational flexibility/Force multiplier; 2. Reaction time; and 3. Sufficient range capability to assure "Maritime power superiority" in limited areas.
