A Showcase of Naval Vessels and Naval Combat Systems

This year's Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace (LIMA) 2003 Maritime exhibition, to be held from September 30 to October 5 at Tanjung Malai in Malaysia's Langkawi Island will play host to some 270 companies from 22 countries, plus an estimated 31 warships from navies around the world, including 21 vessels of the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN). World leaders in warship construction and shipbuilding, plus systems integrators and naval vendors such as BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce, MBDA, Alenia Marconi Systems (AMS), Raytheon, STN Atlas Elektronik GmbH, Fincantieri, Elettronica, Blohm+Voss, IZAR, the German Naval Group and German Submarine Consortium, Armaris, DCN International, UDS International, Thales, Royal Schelde, NAVFCO, SaabTech, Siemens, CAE, Electtronica, and Rosoboronexport will showcase their respective expertise and products ranging from warships and support vessels and submarines to combat management systems, naval radars, electronic warfare suites, guided-missiles, C~4I systems, etc. Leading the Malaysian participation in LIMA 2003 is the Business Focus Group, a global conglomerate with particular emphasis on maritime activities, which was initially set up to undertake the privatisation of Penang Shipbuilding Corporation (PSC) Sdn Bhd and has since also become the owner of the privatised, Lumut-based Naval Dockyard (now known as PSC-Naval Dockyard Sdn Bhd). The PSC-NDSB is the prime contractor for implementing the RMN's six-ship New Generation Patrol Vessel (NGPV) project along with Germany's Blohm+Voss and several other international and local vendors. In addition to undertaking shipbuilding and ship repair division activities, PSC-NDSB will also highlight its expertise in the repair and overhaul of weapons and related electronics.
