Golden Triangle and the Use of Proxy Armies

Historical mistrust, overlapping claims and the use of proxy armies in the Golden Triangle by China, Thailand and Myanmar have stalled development and stability. But the situation may be turning a new leaf as the three countries demonstrated willingness to change its policy towards ethnic armies who, for much of the past century, roamed this lawless region where warlords play for keep. Thailand-based security analyst Don Pathan explored various challenges the key actors face as they explore ways and means to move toward full normalcy.
