Just three weeks after fixed-line powerhouse KT publicly confirmed that it would finally launch its long-awaited IPTV service in 2H06, fresh disputes between key regulators look likely to delay the launch until 2007. Local analysts told ASIAcom that the Ministry of Information and Communication and the Korean Broadcasting Commission remained at loggerheads over who would regulate IPTV and when the service should be allowed to launch. As a result, analysts say it looks increasingly unlikely that the regulators will be able to submit the required bill in February to a special sitting of the National Assembly, which needs to pass legislation to allow KT to launch IPTV services.
