Smartphones contribute for 44 percent of total 1Q handset shipments in Taiwan

Taiwan witnessed the sale of 2.13 million handsets in the first quarter of 2010. Out of these, nearly 44.1 percent, or 940,000, were accounted for by smartphones. Out of the total smartphones shipped in the country during the quarter, Android-based handsets won 58.8 percent of the market share; Apple iOS came next with 21.1 percent, followed by Symbian with 16.3 percent.
