Haier adopts Spreadtrum's smartphone platform

Spreadtrum Communications, Inc., a fabless semiconductor provider in China with advanced technology in 2G, 3G and 4G wireless communications standards, announced that Haier, one of the global leaders in home appliances, has adopted Spreadtrum's 1GHz TD-SCDMA Android platform, the SC8810. The Haier HT-1617, a smartphone designed to address the needs of the mass-market consumer, has completed China Mobile's certification testing, paving the way for commercial launch through China Mobile channels.
