Tomato deal first fruit of Robi's passive infrastructure company launch

Bangladesh Infrastructure Company Limited (BICL), a sister company of Bangladeshi cellco Robi Axiata formed on June 1, 2013, has inked its first passive infrastructure sharing agreement, with local Internet service provider (ISP) Tomato Web. BICL owns and operates in excess of 6,000 base transceiver station (BTS) tower sites throughout Bangladesh. Ahead of the launch of BICL as an independent entity, Malaysian-backed Robi's recent infrastructure sharing agreements included deals with Bangladeshi state-owned cellco Teletalk and fixed-wireless/broadband provider RanksTel.
