Packaging in the new millennium: Working towards an environmentally responsible responsible necessity

The packaging industry has grown significantly over the years in meeting the varying needs of modern business. "Efficient packaging" later became known as "environmentally sound packaging", thanks to the increasing environmental con- cern. The concept has already been put into practice by major packaging manu- facturers around the world. This article analyses the current status of packaging, and discusses how modern packaging products and practices are being shaped under increasing environmental pressures.
