Crossing the borders

After years of heavy investments in the telecommunications sector, coupled with the sudden, full liberalisation of the same that took place on 1 April 2000, Singapore has finally become home to one of the most dynamic telecommunications industries of the Asia-Pacific region. To capitalise on the synergies brought about by the convergence of information, communications and media technologies, the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) of Singapore launched a series of initiatives, collectively known as Infocomm 21, which sets out the broad directions and strategic thrusts for the development of a vibrant Infcomm industry in Singapore during the next five years.
