Korean FPD Equipment Market Grows, Attracts Foreign Manufacturers

Host to some of the world's most extensive flat panel display (FPD) manufacturing operations, Korea has led the industry in terms of investments in new generations of manufacturing facilities. The country accounts for about 40 percent of LCD production and 30 percent of plasma display panel (PDP) shipments worldwide. Two of the world's largest LCD panel manufacturers, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. and LG.Philips LCD, have powered the country's FPD manufacturing sector. This trend also helped create a crop of domestic FPD equipment manufacturers in the country.
