Anritsu Strengthens Bit Error Measurement of Signal Analyzer

The recent spread of rich-content distribution over the Internet is causing massive increases in data transfers, which in turn is leading to the expansion in usage of optical communications systems, as well as the active development and manufacturing of optical modulators for optical-to-electrical signal conversion. Bit error rate evaluation of optical modules requires waveforms with high amplitude of about 3Vp-p. However, the conventional method of generating high-amplitude waveforms uses an external amplifier while monitoring with an oscilloscope. In a new development, Anritsu Corporation strengthened the bit error rate measurement functions of the company's MP1800A signal quality analyzer series through the MU181020A-013 variable data output. It is an optional tool for generating waveforms from 0.5 to 3.5 Vp-p to assure high-reliability evaluations, supporting better research and development (R&D) efficiency and manufacturing yields of optical modulators.
