Capacitor manufacturers are scrambling to come up with products with optimal specifications in response to emerging demand primarily from growth markets, like smartphone, automobile and industrial equipment. The growth rate of capacitor demand in the smartphone market has slowed recently. However, with the impending release of new smartphone models from leading manufacturers, the revival of capacitor demand especially of ultraminiature products can be expected. Meanwhile, the demand for capacitors for use in automotives has been rising as the number of electronic control units (ECUs) installed in a vehicle, mostly for safety systems, such as advanced driver assistance system, also continues to increase. This market expansion is also affected by the growing adoption of eco-friendly vehicles, like electric vehicles, which employ many electronic components. The demand for capacitors for industrial equipment has also been increasing backed by active investments in plants and equipment, and the increase in the production volumes of manufacturing equipment, robots and inverters.
