Frank J. Dean, Jr., was a pioneer in the use of variable-air-volume systems, which are used today in nearly 70% of large commercial air-conditioning systems. He also was one of the first to utilize computer technology in air-conditioning design. His efforts in the development of low-frequency sound attenuation accelerated the growth of large central air-conditioning systems.
