Advances in Geothermal Energy Use

One of the earliest examples of large scale use of the geo-thermal energy is the district heating system in Boise, Idaho. Established in 1892, this system now serves 266 custom-ers-mostly residential. Today, excluding heat pumps, there are about 300 sites in America where geothermal energy is currently used in various applications; including district heating, absorption cooling and refrigeration, industrial processes, aquaculture, horticulture, and snow melting/freeze protection.
