摘要

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) 4th Assessment Report "Climate Change 2007" states that for buildings: "an Integrated Design Approach is required to ensure that the architectural elements and the engineering systems work effectively together." Building Information Modeling (BIM) is fast emerging as an innovative method of bridging communications across the design team. Within a BIM platform, architects and engineers can efficiently generate and exchange co-ordinated, consistent information-enabling faster decision making, better documentation and improved design quality. Integrated Environmental Solutions (IES) have been working hard over the last couple of years to develop, in partnership with Autodesk, a close integration between the Revit BIM platform and IES's suite of building performance analysis tools. Linking feedback on the building's environmental performance into a BIM platform provides powerful information to the whole design team which can be used to make a real difference to the environmental impact of the design.
