2010 Was Banner Year For Supertall Buildings

CHICAGO-While the world's new tallest building opened in 2010, there was much more to the year than the Burj Khalifa. Data from the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) shows it was the year that tall buildings first surpassed the 600, 700 and 800 m (1,970,2,300 and 2,625 ft) thresholds. It also was the year in which more skyscrapers were completed than in any previous year. In all, 66 buildings with a height of 200-plus m (656-plus ft) were completed in 2010. This breaks the previous record of 48 buildings in 2007.
