Defense Acquisition University(DAU) regularly develops case studies foreducational purposes to emphasize acquisitionin action. In DAU?s case-study-basedcurriculum, students spend weeks reviewingcase studies that include the Army combatglove, the Navy’s advanced medium-rangeair-to-air missile, the Air Force F-18 softwareacquisition and dozens of others. While it oftentakes months to research and developthese case studies, DAU is also looking atways to make the process go faster. Withsupport from Ellen M. Lord, undersecretaryof defense for acquisition and sustainment,DAU personnel are speeding up the releasecycle by collecting acquisition stories anddeveloping micro-case studies in defenseinnovation as videos and podcasts for immediateuse. Turning around the media ina matter of days instead of weeks meansmembers of the defense acquisition workforcecan learn what is being used in thefield right now instead of last year.
