Lesione cronica di Essex-Lopresti: trattamento di un caso clinico

The fracture of the radial head with rupture of interosseous membrane and distal radio-ulnar joint (DRUJ), is named Essex-Lopresti injury. These lesions can be frequently missed; in fact, frequently the surgical treatment of only the radial head fracture is performed. This can create a chronic injury with radial shortening, elbow and wrist pain, limitation of pronosupination. In some reported cases disastrous consequences can occur if this lesion is not recognised and correctly treated.
