Spatial free plastic forming of slender parts: angular motion of the motor operators

In several previous contributions a new metal-forming method was described in which a slender part rigidly clamped at one end, A, can be deformed plastically into a large variety of prescribed spatial shapes by means of moving the other end, B, and by simultaneously rotating the cross section at B in an adequate, precalculated way. In order to exercise this method practically, a forming machine called LIMARETHA~® was designed at which both ends A and B are clamped in cardan joints with axles driven by motor operators [1]. In the present paper the calculation scheme for the driving angles and loads of this machine is developed making use of the displacement and the rotation of the end cross section, B, obtained from the previous analysis as well as of the loads acting at A and B.
