In issue 3/2001 we examined the relationship of the sacred to space for the first time. As is generally known, temples were the first permanent buildings of mankind, and the circumstance that for God almost all earthly limitations (to building) can -or indeed must - be removed, continues to release enormous amounts of creative energy. It is surprising, though, that Spain, which despite its dogmatic Catholic history has in recent years developed into one of Europe's most liberal countries, is the land where church building is delivering the most fascinating results.%Erstmals in Heft 3/2001 haben wir das Verhältnis des Heiligen zum Raum untersucht. Bekanntlich waren ja Tempel die ersten dauerhaften Bauten der Menschheit. Der Umstand, dass für Gott fast alle irdischen Beschränkungen (des Bauens) aufgehoben werden können oder sogar müssen, setzt nach wie vor enorme kreative Energien frei. Überraschend ist, dass just in Spanien, das sich in den vergangenen Jahren ungeachtet seiner dogmatisch-katholischen Geschichte zu einem der liberalsten Länder Europas entwickelte, der Kirchenbau die faszinierendsten Ergebnisse liefert.
