Juri Troy: House in the woods and on the street

Between Biedermeier houses and prefab buildings, six-storey blocks and villas, to the west of Vienna's ur-ban boundary there now stands a building which, with its palisades and a "crenellated" upper storey, recalls a castle, or rather would, did it not glow so invitingly in the evening. Juri Troy, known at the latest since the success of the Sunlighthouse in Press-baum (with Matthias Hein, 2010) as an expert for well thought-out form finding and CO_2-neutral building, has designed here, between Wiener Straße and the River Wien, a complex house that follows a simple brief: a ground floor free of barriers, with a floor area of 250 m~2 for the reception and treatment rooms of the client, an orthopedist, and apartments on the upper floor.
