The latest exhibition theTchoban Foundation in Berlin pays homage to the power of fantasy and brings to life again an epoch that dared to radically question the reality of the here and now. Lebbeus Woods (1940-2012), an American architect, who, like many of his contemporaries in the late 1960s, questioned the basis of his world and of architecture, was a radical in the best sense of the term. Less with profound words and more with the strength of his drawings and his fantastical creations of volumes and spaces he influenced many architects who today stand in the glare of the public spotlight. Among these is Wolfgang D. Prix, who, on the occasion of Wood's death in 2012, declared: "Lebbeus was living proof of Derrida's theory that a small drawing can often have more influence on the world than a big building."
