Umnutzungen, Umbauten und weitreichender Stadtumbau zählen zur Top-Agenda des aktuellen Baubetriebs. Die Gründe sind offensichtlich: Ressourcenverknappung (vor allem bei Bauplätzen), starkes, migrationsgetriebenes Bevölke-rungs-, aber schwaches Wirtschaftswachstum sowie neue Lebensweisen und intelligentere Ökonomien wirken als Haupttreiber dieses Megatrends. Natürlich bietet er - wie jede Herausforderung - auch viele Chancen. Wir können so nachhaltiger bauen, hybride und generische Bautypen entwickeln sowie schlaue Haustechnik austüfteln, von der wir aber auch nicht total abhängig sein wollen: Es gibt jede Menge zu tun! Wir zeigen dazu markante und jeweils spartentypische Beispiele aus dem Kultur-, Bildungs- und Forschungsbereich, aber auch für die so zentrale Wohn-Agenda. An Neubauten zeigen wir einen Bildungscampus in Wien und eine Feuerwehrstation aus der Steiermark. Changes of use, conversions and extensive urban redevelopment belong to the top agenda of the current construction business. The reasons for this are clear: shortage of resources (above all with regard to building sites), strong population growth fuelled by migration but weak economic growth, new ways of life and more intelligent economies are the main motor in this mega-trend. Naturally, as with every challenge, this offers many chances. We can build more sus-tainably, develop hybrid and generic building types and devise intelligent building services, on which, however, we don't want to be totally dependent: there is a great deal to be done! We show striking examples, each typical of its field, from the areas of culture, education, and research but also from the very central housing agenda. The new buildings presented are an education campus in Vienna and a fire station from Styria.
