Building with glass

摘要

In the history of building flat glass in large amounts and sizes has been in existence for only a relatively short time: it was just about four hundred years ago that completely transparent panes began to be produced in series. Through the glasshouses of the 19th century architects' enthusiasm for this material grew continuously and developed into the expressionist euphoria of classic modernism. Today glass has advanced to become a high-tech medium: in our summer issue we present recent uses from Germany and Holland, Austria and Italy.
