摘要

The population explosion means that there live on this planet around 2,000 million people who are younger than sixteen. These girls and boys still live at home, but they will want to have their own habitat and working place within the next 16-20 years. Building a world for these young people means that we will need to add to the already existing one a built environment equal in size to the built world of 1930. This seems more or less impossible - at least if we stick to today's building technologies. Reducing the consumption of resources and stopping the waste of material means to build light and at the same time recyclable, which will therefore be one of several musts. However, the construction industry is essentially still in the starting blocks when it comes to the application of lightweight techniques into our buildings. And it is still in the starting blocks as far as introducing a closed-loop recycling regime for building materials and components is concerned.
