Alvaro Siza Vieira: Auditorium Theatre of Llinars del Valles

Llinars del Valles is located on a gently undulating plot of land that sits on a slightly elevated slope. It is situated between the lofty mountain surfaces that rise to the south of Montseny and the Serrelada Litoral. The theater-cum-auditorium of Llinars del Valles was constructed on a plot of land formerly occupied by a large residential compound in the northeastern part of the city. This building was the first stage of a large-scale development that utilized a plot of public land for the partial planning of Can Marques. The nearly triangular plot of land allocated to this project is situated to the northeast of the city center, forming the boundary of the city of Llinare, which takes on an irregular twinned shape. Located on the site of this project was a Can Marques farmhouse from which this part of the project derives its name. It was preserved as part of a public protection program for maintaining urban parks and utilizing facilities and residences.
