Domo Mundo Aventura

Unfortunately, I made this structure in the wrong place for the wrong client. Initially, the concept was taken from my experience in building the bamboo dome in India that was presented at the Shanghai Expo (2010). Here, I was the only designer. For this dome structure of Mundo Aventura, I designed it to be completely open with accessibility from all sides and the bamboo roof to have a continuous overhang all around its perimeter. The bamboo dome roof, formed by circular rings made using bamboo and metal pipes, rests on the Eucalyptus wood columns and post-tension concrete beam. Slates tiles are used over the roof. The institution ended up putting a flat ceiling to make it more "cozy", but it blocks the view of the bamboo dome from the inside. It was a crime to have done that. The dome measured 26 m in diameter with an additional 3 m of overhang all around.
