International House is located in Barangaroo, a newly-developed precinct at the western edge of Sydney's CBD. Since 2012 the area has been transformed from a disused container terminal to a 2 2-hectare waterfront development for commerce, housing, recreation and leisure. This ongoing development uses a centralized system for recycling, renewable energy regeneration, and embedded electricity, and deploys Sydney Harbor water for cooling. It will advance knowledge on the design and delivery of low carbon precincts. International House addresses the city and connects Barangaroo with the historic heart of the commercial district of Sydney.
