The recent market boom gave birth to a new generation of green commercial buildings, which was accompanied by a suite of tools for assessing environmental performance. Australia's greatest success in this period was to create a model where buildings were both healthier and less carbon intensive. This model created a business case for building green and rewarded rigorous design, passive initiatives and innovation. It helped create significant and unique buildings in the commercial sector, but also in other areas of the property sector such as retail and education.
