Happy New Year. This edition of AB brings together discussion on urban design, including Ken Woolley's propositions around the Sydney Opera House. We had planned to publish these long before the passing of J0rn Utzon, but it seems fitting to have them, along with Philip Nobis's views on the opera theatre's acoustics, for this edition's Backchat, page 32, with a tribute on page 30. As noted in the previous edition of AB, Philip Thalis's survey of open competitions in Sydney continues (page 15), and the full survey (1858-2008) is on the NSW Chapter website. Next edition (March/April), will have the Chapter's first Events Calendar for 2009; by popular demand, in lift-out poster format.
