Without doubt, the general level of motivation and knowledge of property sustainability has improved in the last decade, yet questions remain. Does the current, set-and-forget "world's best practice' position deliver the necessary ecological and climate change outcomes needed? Does it make sense that advanced green buildings should cost more? In my career it has been inspiring to work with development and investment managers and their architects who strive to make a difference, and who challenge the status quo, seeking quantitative metrics to validate the ecological and economic effectiveness of their sustainability investments.
