摘要

To consider sustainability as an 'ism' offers up an interesting wider perspective. Long gone are the days when the only way to be green was to chain yourself to a bulldozer. Sustainability has grown from its brash young days and is now mature enough to wear a 'suit' at meetings, yet it still manages to carry the spirit of simply wanting a better place. Nowhere is this change more readily seen than in the rapid rise of corporate sustainability-related roles, which, not so long ago, didn't even exist. But like any other movement - an obvious example is feminism - sustainability's path to mainstream has not been complete, nor has it been smooth. For some, it may still represent an obstructionist minority, for others it is an essential and integral component of industry best practice. These are widely differing views.
