摘要

This field study investigated the roof thermal performance of naturally ventilated houses in the tropical city of Townsville, Australia. A number of houses, both old and new, with roofs of different types insulated with a variety of materials were selected for the study. Indoor and outdoor air temperatures, surface temperatures, solar and infrared radiation, and wind speeds were measured. Their relationships were analysed for comparison with current design codes and for exploration of some possible guidelines for tropical house roof design, especially with respect to roof insulation.
