Matter: material processes in architectural production

This book consists of an introductory part of four interviews, followed by eight parts comprising of a total of 30 chapters by various authors, generally of the younger generation of architects, and all relating to aspects of the use of materials (in building, and also in other contexts). In the Introduction, the editors comment that 20 years ago, the idea of material was aligned with the craftsperson. Then there was the idea of conceptual or 'cardboard architecture' in which materiality was considered almost irrelevant, but they contend that this is no longer tenable because '... there is no clear objective mind-body split, ...
