The thought model for this book - a cross between C-Lab's quarterly Volume and a Chinese urbanism publication - is like a bootleg recording: an editorial memory of cassettes sold at gigs to hardcore fans. True to the format, it looks pretty terrible. Most pages are printed one colour, and the design sabotages legibility with oversized fonts, narrow margins and cumbersome column widths. Images are cut across pages and, rather impenetrably, article titles are ripped away from their texts. But, as with the best bootlegs, once you get over this, the material is pretty interesting.
