This is a beautiful book. It is a pleasure to hold; it looks and smells good. It would not be hyperbole to deem it a modest objet d'art, its graphic design and production appropriately decorative, discriminating and deferential. Its glistening dust jacket, featuring in bold photographic elevation the dove-carved doors of the white cupboards in Mackintosh's own bedroom, could scarcely be a more fitting intimation of the visual delights within.
