KIDSTOWN HIGASHIJUJO NURSERY SCHOOL

This nursery school, accepting 90 children, is planned as part of JR company's project which provides support to families raising children. The site, close to the station, is just large enough to meet the basis of floor space for children. To ensure the enough playground, balconies are arranged whole southwest side of building. These spaces are used as a passage and a buffer from the strong sunshine. On the upper floor, an outdoor activity space isd esigned vertically. A sandbox, a slide and a climbing wall allow children to take a physical action. Children also can play on steps, ramps, alcove and lofts inside and look outside through rhythmic windows. By designing plenty of small and attractive spaces, we think this building can enhance children's development and growth. Additionally, to minimize power consumption, movable aluminum louver and regenerative floor heating system are installed.
