摘要

Conceived as the symbol of Sumita town heralding Japan's Top Forestry Town, the town hall was designed to realize the unprecedented wooden structure utilizing indigenous materials and involving local builders. The wood fragments of lumbers are processed into pellets to be used as biomass fuel for absorption chiller heaters. The structure retains aseismic strength 1.5 times as much as the legal requirement by means of 21.6m long lenticular truss beams supported by peripheral columns standing around the building with 1.8m intervals and lattice walls.
