BLACK AND WHITE HOUSE

Yokkaichi city, Mie prefecture. In a quiet neighborhood, bound on all sides by houses there is a little oasis: a sudden expanse of green fields. Right in the middle stands a bungalow. The bold silhouette of the Black House, with its charred yakisugi exterior, stands quietly in harmony with its pastoral surroundings. Inside this silhouette the White House passes through. Its white diatomite walls gently curving reaching out north, south, east, west, as well as skywardres ponding to the surrounding environment and seeming to draw it in. The White House divides the Black House into the necessary rooms as it connects the inside space to the surrounding environment : encouraging the flow of people, air and light making this space the center of daily life.
