Volume (ⅩⅩⅤ) of Architectural Heritage celebrates the singular contribution to Scottish architectural history made by John Gifford (1946-2013), historian and chief author and researcher of The Buildings of Scotland architectural guides. John wanted no eulogy at his funeral nor a memorial service. He was a modest man whose mind was focused upon scholarship, and by dedicating this volume to him his architectural historian friends seek to reflect his interests.
