It seems appropriate to end this issue on the near future with a series of works from the near past that predicted a type of future that we now experience as the present.rnIn the 1980s, at the height of postmodern Post-Modernism and before the world had heard of the term 'young British art', Art in Ruins made a series of gloriously provocative works and installations utilising the fragments of the culture around them, celebrating the death of art -or was it the art of death? Their work was a perfect condensation of Jean Baudrillard's term 'Game with Vestiges', but unlike Baudrillard, rather than giving up on art as a spent force, they continued to pursue the critical potential of art practice even as art became more and more allied with the entertainment industry.
