The relationship between 'The'city and 'The'auant-garde has always been problematic or rather unilayeral - patbetically one-sided.The auant-garde is,almost permanently, in the humiliating position of a lover who is not merely rejected, but worse, not even noticed. The city inspires but it does not respond.
