If the Anthropocene proves more a fleeting geopolitical instant than a slow geological era - waves of apes maniacally excavating ancient carbon and drawing loops on maps - then whatever comes 'next' would be formed not by the same anthropos but by something literally post-, un-, in-'human', for better or worse. So too the cities.
