The Hill House takes a bold and different approach to house layout and challenges the definition of built elements to liberate spaces from traditional shackles. The new addition: kitchen, living and master bedroom, is separate from the existing building which allows sun to enter the backyard and gives the new spaces a north face. The resulting lawn courtyard, bordered by a fence/corridor that connects the original front house to the addition, is the new focus and gathering space for the family.
