Thanks to their enhanced property profile, cross-linked PE (PE-X) pipes expand the range of applications for plastic piping. This is true, on the one hand, in the case of hihg-temperature applications, as well as for buried piping systems operating a ambient temperature. In the field of gas piping, for example, these pipes' extreme resistance to stress cracking permits installation with no sand bed, making it possi- ble to achieve installation-cost savings despite the higher pipe price.
