A superconducting induction generator with HTS bulk magnet is presented. The generator has two rotors. The outer rotor is made of a copper shell and the inner rotor consists of HTS bulk magnets. The outer rotor rotates at higher angular velocity than that of the rotating magnetic field generated by the stator but the inner rotor rotates at the same angular velocity with the stator field. The induced armature voltage by HTS bulk magnets can compensate reactive armature currents, which improves the power factor of the generator close to unity. A 2 kVA induction generator with permanent magnet in place of HTS bulk magnet is manufactured and tested. This has proved the advantages of the proposed generator.
